Hot. Made the journey south with a quick pit in Mansfield to pick up Jay. He served as the navigator and we were in Granville before I knew it. The parking lot at the race was a sizzling 105F according to my Garmin and I think that caused me to struggle a bit on the first lap. Once I got into a groove the miles clicked away. Down to the last lap, Scott Young jumped on the hill on the front side and opened a 200 meter gap. Working with another Master rider(Radio Shack / Specialized)we chased and finally reeled him in on the flat on Dry Creek Rd. Several more attacks back and forth and I was finally able to get a small gap over the last hill. Scott battled back and we made the turn into the school one/two. Another sprint to the finish and I was able to open a small gap for the victory.

AWOP was well represented today. It was nice to see everyone and I hope Keith feels better...he looked a bit green...

Finished 6th in the CAT 4/5 field. Tym couldn't tell me what my result was within the 5's but I was told there was at least one CAT 4 in front of me. That means at least a top 5 within the CAT 5's.

A comedy of errors surrounded this race. A/C was out at my house and I spent too long trouble shooting that before the race. Got a late start, arrive 40 minutes before race time to see 2 people in the parking lot. Race was pushed back 30 minutes so I rode a partial lap. Get back to find out race was postponed another 30 minutes meaning I had time for a full lap but didn't realize it. Turnout was better than I expected after the initial impression. I didn't eat properly for a race starting this late in the day. My legs felt tired and I wasn't quite on my A game today but pretty satisfied with my result and how I fared in the race.
